Lifetime Adoption Foundation offers adoption assistance for pregnant women, children up to 14 years, and families seeking to adopt. All adoption opportunities for birth mothers and adoptive families are funded through tax deductible donations from individuals, estates, and corporations.

Adoption

Children's System of Care provides placement approval for matched families through the Resource Family Approval process, and support for parents wishing to voluntarily relinquish their children for adoption.

Fostering

Placer County provides foster care licensing and adoptive home studies to families who are interested in opening their homes. Placer County works in partnership with several community based organizations such as Koinonia Family Services, Stanford Youth Solutions/Sierra Forever Families, Lilliput Family Services, and Families for Children to recruit and educate new foster and adoptive parents.

Children's System of Care offers comprehensive services for children and youth who may be at risk in Placer County.

Eligibility

Eligibility for Placer Children's mental health services includes full scope Medi-Cal beneficiaries, and County Medical Services Program (CMSP) beneficiaries with low or no share of cost. Those who do not meet these eligibility criteria are assessed on an individual basis regarding their need for services.

Wayfinder Family Services has four programs serving Placer County. Three are direct referrals and one requires a call to the Placer County Mental Health Access line.

Kinship Support Services Program – call directly for referral. Wayfinder’s Kinship Support Services Program (KSSP) supports grandparents, extended family members or close family friends who step up to raise children so they avoid the trauma of separation from their birth family. KSSP is free of charge to families.

Home to Stay – can call directly or be referred by a provider. Home to Stay offers counseling and support services to kinship and birth families who are at high risk for out of home placement in Placer County. Wayfinder provides short-term in home counseling and parent education to enhance parenting skills, building supports and mitigating behavioral health risks to youth and families. EA Family Services recruits and approves local families to become foster parents, provides support and case management for foster youth in care, and provides a Transitional Housing Program for foster youth upon their 18th birthday.

Koinonia Family Services provides foster and adoption services throughout California and Nevada. While foster care and adoption accounts for the largest part of their organization, they also have programs to treat, support, and improve the lives of foster children, adoptive children, group home children, and at-risk youth and families.

Foster Care Alumni of America (FCAA) provides opportunities for alumni to know each other and to share support and information. Whether attending meetings, responding to chat rooms, or participating in events, FCAA shares alumni stories and experiences as well as builds networks of friendship across the nation.

Foster Care to Success (FC2S) provides college bound foster youth with tuition grants, book money, living stipends and emergency funding for those unexpected expenses that could derail the most dedicated student on a tight budget. They also provide academic coaches, personal mentors, care packages and internship opportunities.

Stanford Sierra Youth and Families offers programs in Nevada County.

• Family Preservation - The Family Preservation program provides a “safety-net” for youth and their families who require specialized mental health and family support services. Trained clinicians provide individual, family, and group therapy, including comprehensive mental health services, with the goal of nurturing and strengthening families, so youth can remain safe and together with their families.
