Nevada County Now offers paratransit and senior on-demand dial-a-rides. There is no Sunday service. Service area includes Grass Valley, Nevada City, Penn Valley, Lake Wildwood, and other local areas (see link to map in Web Pages section below). Bus hours: 7am - 6pm  Monday - Friday. 7:30am - 4:30pm Saturday.

The County of Nevada Transit Services administers an origin-to-destination/door-to-door paratransit service for persons with disabilities who, due to a mental or physical disability, are unable to use the fixed-route bus system, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Discounted bus fare cards are available for qualified seniors, people with disabilities, and youth passengers. Children 5 years and younger ride free. The Alta Colfax is run by Placer County Transit and is a deviated fixed route servicing ¾ of a mile off I-80 from Auburn Amtrak station, Colfax Amtrak station, and the Alta store. It operates twice daily Monday – Friday.

Hospitality House offers two transportation programs: Homeless Access Transport (HAT) and Older Adults Access Transport.

  • Both services are free and donations are welcome on the Older Adults Access Transport van.
  • Vans have lifts for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
  • The service area is basically from the Brighton Greens Department of Social Services office in the south to the Rood Center in Nevada City in the north.

  • A need for service beyond the Grass Valley and Nevada City area can be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
