 Sierra Roots | Holiday Meal Service

  • What? Sierra Roots provides a weekly hot lunch every Thursday at the Community Church in Nevada City for people experiencing homelessness. The service on Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving) and Thursday, December 25 (Christmas) will include a full holiday meal served at the regular time.
  • When? Thursdays at 11:30am (doors open at 10:30am)
    • Holiday meals served on:
      • Thanksgiving Day | Thursday, November 27, 2025
      • Christmas Day | Thursday, December 25, 2025

Eligibility:

  • Open to people experiencing homelessness
  • Walk-in only; sign-in with name requested
  • No ID required; respectful behavior expected

The Salvation Army Angel Tree helps provide Christmas toys and other gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. Once a child has been registered and accepted as an Angel their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. The gifts are distributed to the family to place under their family Christmas tree.

If a family is in need of toys, they need to apply online at: www.saangeltree.org. If family does not have internet access, the Salvation Army will take applications in person at local locations (Auburn, Roseville or Grass Valley).
