The Pacific ADA Center to builds partnerships between the disability community and the general public by enhancing understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) through education and technical assistance.

ALERTCalifornia is a public safety program working to understand wildfires and other natural hazards and determine short and long-term impacts on people and the environment to inform management decisions.

The state-focused program manages a network of more than 1,060 monitoring cameras and sensor arrays, and collects data that provides actionable, real-time information to inform public safety. In addition to the camera network, and in response to increasingly frequent and severe climate-driven disasters, ALERT California is prioritizing novel data collection and research. These data are open-source and are shared with fellow institutions and partners.

Advanced technology offers fresh insight into the cascading disasters associated with wildfires, such as post-fire debris flows, floods, and erosion. These data will lead to a greater understanding of natural disasters and their long-term pacts on air, water, and soil quality as well as human health in California.

2023 - If you are dependent on your landline phone service from AT&T, please contact the Nevada County Board of Supervisors per instructions below.

Background
Over the next six to seven years, AT&T will be discontinuing their traditional wireline phone service. This service is provided via an outdated copper-based network. AT&T says that moving away from the landline phone network will allow them to invest more resources in high-speed broadband infrastructure.

AT&T has asked the County of Nevada to help them identify and connect with any of their traditional landline phone customers who have no other voice service alternatives (including mobile/cell phone service). They understand the public safety hazard of having no phone service and want to maintain service for households in that situation.

CalFresh, formerly known as Food Stamps and known federally as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), provides extra funds to help those who are in need each month to buy groceries.

With a CalFresh electronic “debit” card (known as EBT) you can buy most foods at many food stores and farmers markets.

Several Nevada County Farmers Markets offer a CalFresh matching program called Market Money (or Market Match), where you can double your CalFresh dollars up to a specified dollar amount per market per week. Amount may change from year to year.
