Services include:

  • Affordable homeownership opportunities for income-qualified families
  • Income eligibility between 30% and 80% of the Nevada County area median income
  • 500-hour “sweat equity” commitment per household toward home construction or other Habitat services
  • Selection process based on need, income stability, and partnership readiness
  • Application review process that includes interviews and home visits by the selection committee

FieldHaven’s Kitten Sitters program supports people caring for abandoned kittens and cats found in the community through a neighborhood-based foster model.

The program helps keep animals out of shelters by equipping caregivers with supplies, veterinary support, and training to provide short-term care in safe home environments.

Kitten Sitters receive guidance from FieldHaven staff and are encouraged to find permanent homes for the animals they help.

Services include:

  • Food, supplies, and support for kittens and community cats under 12 weeks of age
  • Access to low-cost veterinary care and spay/neuter services
  • Coaching on safe, in-place care and kitten socialization
  • Email support from trained staff and volunteers

Meals on Wheels provides qualified home-bound seniors over the age of 60 with nutritious lunches. Must be enrolled in the Meals on Wheels program. Delivery is on Tuesdays & Thursdays (no deliveries on weekends, major holidays or when roads are unsafe to travel). Gold Country Senior Services oversees the Meals on Wheels program in Western Nevada County (Alta Sierra, Grass Valley, Lake of the Pines, Lake Wildwood, Nevada City, Penn Valley, Rough and Ready, etc).*

Meals on Wheels clients can apply to the Pet Food Pantry Program through their case worker. The purpose of the Pet Food Pantry Program is to keep seniors and their pets together by reducing pet expenses.
