The Friendship Club provides a year-round program in Western Nevada County serving girls at risk in grades 6-12. Girls meet after school during the school year, attend field trips and other activities during school breaks, and participate in summer camps and enrichment activities throughout the summer.

The Friendship Club has helped almost 1,000 girls since starting in 1995. The comprehensive, long-term program is open to youth who are female, identifying as female, and gender non-conforming between the ages of 10 and 18, and provides assistance into their 20s as they transition to adulthood. The Friendship Club serves more than 100 youth every year, providing year-round academic, social, and emotional support in individual and group settings – and ensuring basic needs, such as access to health care and healthy meals, are available.

California Tahoe Conservancy provides a fuelwood program for residents in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin. Firewood is available, up to two cords, free of charge to anyone who needs it. Wood is precut but not split. Hauling is the responsibility of the resident who needs it. Must obtain a wood permit through the conservancy. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun activities that help Girl Scouts prepare for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure. Each level of Girl Scouts is unique with a wide variety of activities to try. As a Girl Scout progresses, every level builds upon the last and allows them to explore their interests.

Give an Hour provides free mental health services to active duty service members, National Guard and Reserve forces, and veterans who have separated or retired from any branch of military service. Give an Hour also serves family members and loved ones of those who have served in the military.

Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes in partnership with local low-income families, and also offers the Habitat Home Ownership Program, which provides an opportunity for local, low-income families to purchase an affordable home in Nevada County.

Families are chosen based on three basic eligibility criteria:

• ​Need - family income is between 30% to 80% of the median income in Nevada County.
• Ability To Pay - verify that the family does have a steady income in order to successfully pay the monthly mortgage payments.
• Willingness To Partner with Habitat - The family agrees to do 500 "sweat equity" hours helping build their home or providing another service to the organization.

The NC Habitat Homeowner selection committee carefully reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes home visits to ensure that the families selected have the greatest need and likelihood of success as homeowners.

Therapeutic riding provides the opportunity for people with special needs to use horses as their therapists.
