Tahoe Alerts (aka TahoeAlerts) is an interactive web map that allows residents and visitors in all counties surrounding Lake Tahoe to find out which county they are in and which emergency alert system to sign up for.

People can enter an address, click on the map, or click “Use current location” to find out. California counties are Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, and Alpine. State of Nevada counties are Douglas, Carson City, and Washoe.

211 Connecting Point serves Nevada and Placer Counties. Nevada County uses CodeRed and Placer County uses Placer Alerts/Everbridge. The TahoeAlerts website will direct people to the appropriate emergency alert system for their location.

About evacuation zones

  • Nevada County has established evacuation zones. Alerts are sent to evacuation zones that are affected by an incident. To find you evacuation zone number, enter address at Genasys Protect.

The Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (OES) coordinates with County departments, municipalities, key stakeholders, and special districts to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all disasters.

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office provides free “EVACUATED” tags for residents to place in a highly visible place such as a door, reflective address sign, mailbox, fence, or gate as they evacuate their residence during an emergency.

These tags will help first responders swiftly identify which homes have been evacuated so they can focus their attention on those who still need help and decrease overall evacuation times.
