Tahoe Truckee Unified School District provides free meals for students through its Food & Nutrition Services.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is providing free summer meals for children aged 18 and younger and any adults with developmental disabilities. Participants do not need to be enrolled in a TTUSD school site.

Participants can receive five breakfasts and five lunches, delivered to the following locations every Monday until August 9th, 2024:

The Harvest Community Church Drive-Thru Food Closet is open to the community every last Tuesday of the month between 4:30 pm-5:30 pm. Receive bags of groceries, provided by the Placer Food Bank without leaving your vehicle (as supplies last).

The Salt Mine offers emergency services to the city of Lincoln and surrounding communities. Their main charitable activity is the food closet, presently offering emergency food to over one thousand needy families in the area each month.

In addition, they help with emergency clothing, household items, and transportation. Other emergency needs are met on an ’as available basis’ or by referral such as bathing and laundry facilities to name a few.

All items sold in these thrift shops are donated by local supporters.

The Salt Mine offers emergency and hot lunches Tue-Fri, 10am-12pm.

Interfaith Food Ministry provides supplemental groceries, including baby formula and baby food when available, to low-income individuals and families. Diapers are also available at regular food distributions, and they will also hand out diapers only (no food) on Tuesday or Thursday from 7am-11am.

• Reservation System - Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10am-11:30am Reservations Only. 11:30am-1:00pm First Come, First Served. Saturday: No Reservations, First Come, First Served. No actual start date yet for reservations but may be around the end of June or beginning of July. Make reservations on the IFM Portal.
• Please consider coming in later for shorter wait times. Wait time at opening is typically 60+minutes, however, wait times drop to about 30 minutes later in the day (after11:30am/noon). The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Penn Valley offers an Emergency Food Distribution on Thursdays from 9 - 11:30am at 17645 Penn Valley Drive, Penn Valley, CA 95946.

Emergency Food is a bag of food (2-3 day supply) intended to tide someone over to the next regular food distribution by the Food Bank of Nevada County or Interfaith Food Ministry.

People from anywhere in Nevada County are eligible for emergency food and for the Food Bank of Nevada County regular distributions.

Call FREED at 530-477-3333 for a screening to learn if you are eligible for food home delivery due to inability to leave your home to get your own groceries. For seniors and people with disabilities who have absolutely no way to get to a food distribution anywhere.
