The Mission of One Source – Empowering Caregivers is to improve quality of life for In-Home Caregivers and their loved ones by providing cost-free, non-medical support while they remain at home in a safe and healthy environment.

This resource is eligible for electronic referral.  One Source provides assessments for in-home family caregivers and loved ones to help create a specific plan to assist the in-home caregiver with respite and other resources.

Provides volunteer respite in-home family caregivers at no cost.

There are regular trainings for volunteers to become Respite Care Specialists. Call for details. 530-205-9514.

The Placer County Library system offers a Adult Literacy Services which provides free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring for adults who wish to improve their literacy skills. This includes reading, writing, basic math, English as a second language, and GED help.

Learners come from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. Some can't read or write at all, and some want to become more proficient. Once an initial assessment has been made, learners are matched with trained volunteer tutors. The pair meets at a time and library location that is convenient for both.

SkiDUCK is an entirely volunteer based non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of financially disadvantaged, minority and at-risk youth by teaching and sharing the joys of skiing and snowboarding.

Each season SkiDUCK provides hundreds of kids (ages 7-18) with over 1,000 FREE days of skiing and snowboarding; including free lift tickets, rentals and lessons! In our early days, SkiDUCK expanded to running programs at 15 resorts across nine different states coast to coast. But they have since returned to their home in beautiful Lake Tahoe, CA and their home resort Palisades Tahoe. They are so fortunate to have their support and the support of the greater Lake Tahoe community!

SkiDUCK is committed to partnering with local area organizations with similar goals of serving underprivileged youth. If your community or organization is interested in partnering with SkiDUCK to establish a program to introduce disadvantaged youth to the slopes, give them a QUACK!
