Academic programs feature daily tutoring in math and literacy as well as school assemblies and innovative outreach programs. The Nevada County Historical Society Firehouse No. 1 Museum provides opportunity for visitors to the Historic Firehouse No. 1, which was completed in the Spring of 1861, and housed the Nevada Hose Company No. 1 from 1861 to 1938.

Displays historical collections from the history of early Nevada City, including the Nisenan Indians, the Donner Party, the Chinese and daily life in Nevada County, featuring wedding dresses and an ornate miniature doll house.

The Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe has a time-limited opportunity to purchase 232 acres located on a historic Nisenan Village site called Yulića near Nevada City - what is currently known as Woolman.

As of January 8, 2024, CHIRP deposited $75,000 into an escrow account to acquire Woolman as a land base for the Tribe. CHIRP has until April 4th, 2024 to raise the additional $1.5 million to purchase the property, with a total fundraising goal of $2.4 million for the purchase price, government required improvements, and an operating endowment. 

This is the Tribe’s best opportunity to re-establish a homeland in more than half a century, and they are seeking community financial help to make it happen.

Opening Doors, Inc helps underserved members of the Greater Sacramento Area access opportunities within the US social and economic system. Their programs help those escaping human trafficking and newly arrived refugees to start safe and healthy lives. They provide low-cost immigration legal services, financial education classes, and small business support programs.

They do this with a multi-cultural staff and volunteers who respect the cultural identities and individual goals of their clients.
